Massachusetts Lawmakers Working on Healthcare Cost Containment Bill
Massachusetts state lawmakers working to reconcile House and Senate versions of health care cost containment legislation say they are “optimistic” that they will reach a deal.
Rep. Steven Walsh says “progress is being made every day” on the compromise legislation, before heading to the bill’s conference committee meeting yesterday, July 5.
The Lynn Democrat, chairman of the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Health Care Financing, would not offer a specific timeline for when he thinks the deal will be reached, but said it will be done by the session’s July 31 deadline.
The conference committee is tasked with reconciling the House and Senate versions of a proposal that aims to reel in spiraling health care costs in the state.
