“Eliminating Old-Fashioned Phrases” Poster Aims at Improving Claims Correspondence
The Communication Workshop, a writing-consulting firm in the insurance industry, has published a new two-color 8 ½ “X11” poster on eliminating old-fashioned phrases. The poster offers substitutes for each of 50 common stodgy phrases used throughout the insurance industry.
Among the old-fashioned phrases are: “enclosed please find,” “under separate cover,” “do not hesitate to contact me,” “Dear Sir or Madam,” “as per our discussion,” “I am in receipt of,” “please note,” “the undersigned,” “kindly,” and “Very truly yours.”
Each poster, which costs $3 and is available from The Communication Workshop, 130 Shore Rd., Port Washington, NY 11050, may be ordered online from The Claims Writer’s Catalog (www.writingworkshop.com). However, to celebrate the poster’s creation, Blake will send it FREE to the first 50 insurance professionals who call him at (516) 767-9590 or e-mail him at garyblake@aol.com.
