San Francisco High-Rise Fire Doused Without Injuries
A fire engulfed five floors of a San Francisco high-rise but authorities say nobody was hurt and the blaze was quickly doused.
The Fire Department says the blaze hit the 25-story building in the Financial District Monday afternoon. Firefighter helped several people to safety. The fire burned on floors 12 to 16 for about 45 minutes before it was doused.
Fire Lt. Jonathan Baxter tells the San Francisco Chronicle that the fire burned inside apartments and raced through hallways.
The cause is under investigation.
Fire officials say the building on Davis Court near Washington Street has 196 apartments but it wasn’t clear how many people were home at the time.
