Alaska School District Settles Sexual Assault Lawsuit for $920K
The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District in Alaska has agreed to pay $920,000 to the family of a student who said he was sexually assaulted by a high school tutor.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported the settlement was reached after a nine-hour mediation session Monday in Seattle between attorneys for the school district and the family.
Borough insurance will cover $670,000 of the cost and the school district will pay $250,000.
Fowlkes has been charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor and is awaiting trial.
