Nevada Official Says 11 Drivers Cited so Far For Uber
Nevada drivers with the ridesharing company Uber are picking up passengers despite a judge’s order blocking the rides until at least until Nov. 7.
Nevada Taxicab Authority spokeswoman Teri Williams told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that at least one Uber driver was cited Saturday for violating Nevada laws licensing car services.
Another 10 drivers were cited statewide on Friday.
The state attorney general sought a temporary order blocking Uber Friday afternoon after the company launched service in Nevada earlier that day.
Nevada’s highly regulated and influential taxi industry is battling Uber, which contends it’s not a taxi service but a technology company connecting drivers and passengers.
A court hearing on the issue is set for Nov. 6.
