Oregon Man Injured In Dunes ATV Ride Files Suit
A man injured during an all-terrain vehicle ride in the Oregon dunes has sued a Eugene company, alleging it dug up a trail and did not warn riders of a sudden drop.
Joseph Catania of Alturas, Calif., seeks $426,000 from the Knife River Corp. He also is pursuing a claim against the U.S. Forest Service.
A Knife River spokesman told The Register-Guard newspaper the company does not comment on pending litigation.
The lawsuit states the injury happened two years ago when Catania was camping at Horsfall Campground at the southern end of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area. Knife River was repairing rail lines purchased by the International Port of Coos Bay.
