The heavy rain and hail that hit Weld County over the weekend damaged not only crops but also schools.
The Greeley Tribune reported Windsor Middle School’s ceilings collapsed from the water, and Tozer Primary School had water damage to about a half-dozen classrooms and the principal’s office. Mountain View Elementary had some water damage, and the district office had water in the basement and in the elevator shaft.
The damage to schools in Windsor was estimated at about $50,000.
In Greeley-Evans School District 6, spokeswoman Theresa Myers says there was a slight leak in the roof at Dos Rios Elementary School in Evans, and Northridge High School had a broken window.
Residents are reporting roof, window and vehicle damage, while some farmers have reported crop losses.
