Ex-Police Chief in Oregon Sues for Wrongful Termination
A federal judge in Oregon has partially dismissed a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination by former Sunriver police chief Michael Kennedy.
But Kennedy’s attorney told the Bulletin that aspects of the case that were not dismissed will go forward.
Kennedy sued last year, claiming his firing in February 2012 by the managing board of the Sunriver Service District was politically motivated. He is seeking $1 million.
The lawsuit in federal court names the service district, the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners, the Sunriver Owners Association, former SROA board member John Salzer and former service district board member Doug Seator as defendants.
A judge earlier this month found Kennedy didn’t show the County Commission or the SROA had any involvement in the firing.
