Idaho Fraud Awareness Coalition Awards Scholarships

The Idaho Fraud Awareness Coalition, organized by the state Department of Insurance, will award scholarship money to three Idaho high school students for their research and knowledge in the area of fraud and its impact on Idahoans.

Scholarship monies will be awarded by scholarship sponsor State Farm Insurance, the Fraud Awareness Coalition and the Department of Insurance in the Governor’s ceremonial office on Friday, June 24.

“State Farm is proud to support the Idaho Fraud Awareness Coalition’s Scholarship program as it raises awareness among high school students about the negative impact of fraud,” said State Farm Public Affairs Specialist Maria Ventura.

Students from throughout the state participated in this year’s contest. Scholarship winners and their prizes are as follows: first place David Kwang Min Kim of Boise, $1,000; second place Tiffany McDowell of Boise, $750; and third place Curtis Nelson of Meridian, $250.

The scholarship contest was open to all Idaho high school seniors. Students were encouraged to research the types of fraud being perpetrated in Idaho, learn about the cost and consequences fraud has on society as a whole, and offer a solution for fraud prevention.

The winning essays will be posted on the Fraud Coalition’s Web site, www.fightfraudidaho.com.
