Oregon DCBS Director Leaving in January
Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) Director Cory Streisinger announced she will leave her position at the end of Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s term, Jan. 10, 2011.
“Heading the Department of Consumer and Business Services has been an immensely rewarding task, but after eight years, I feel it’s time for a change,” she said.
Kulongoski appointed Streisinger DCBS director in January 2003. Once a new governor is elected, that person will appoint a new DCBS director, who will then decide if any additional staffing changes are necessary, according to Lisa Morawski, spokeswoman for the DCBS. The state Insurance Division falls under the DCBS, but no personnel changes have yet been announced, she said.
“From maintaining a strong workers’ compensation system, to putting an end to predatory lending to chairing my Reset Cabinet, Cory’s leadership has delivered greater protections for our families, a competitive edge for our businesses and a better Oregon for us all,” Gov. Kulongoski said.
Under Streisinger’s leadership, the department has nationally recognized workers’ compensation and workplace safety programs, strengthened consumer protections in insurance and finance services, streamlined regulatory processes, and instituted innovative approaches to energy efficiency and green building, the DCBS said.
Polls say there is a close race between Republican Chris Dudley and Democrat John Kitzhaber for Oregon governor.
