Fire Danger Eases in Southern California
The U.S. Forest Service says fire danger levels in parts of the Angeles National Forest that did not burn this year are being downgraded because of recent rain and snowfall.
In a statement, the Forest Service says the level will be lowered Wednesday from “extreme” to high.”
The fire danger rating system is comprised of six levels, ranging from low to critical.
Officials say the large area burned by the Station Fire and adjacent downhill areas remain closed. Open campfires are permitted in developed campgrounds that are not part of the closure and that are not subject to normal winter closures.
Gas, gel and propane camp stoves are also permitted in campgrounds, trail camps and back country areas with valid permits.
