NIF Group Opens Office in Washington

Manhasset, N.Y.-based NIF Group Inc. has opened NIF Pacific in Bothell, Wash. This office will specialize largely in insurance for nonprofit social service agencies. The company said the Pacific office will help better serve its producer base, which has expanded since it broadened its social service writings with Safeco Insurance Co. nationwide.

Gordy Phelps has been named president of NIF Pacific. Prior to joining NIF Group, Phelps served as professional liability manager for Safeco National Programs Facility. He has 27 years of insurance industry experience in the northwest, primarily in medical malpractice, excess and surplus lines and reinsurance specialty lines.

NIF Group, an insurance holding company, was incorporated in 1976 in New York. The company writes more than $200 million annually from its nine locations nationwide.
