Calif. DOI Appoints Deputy Commissioner of Consumer Services and Market Conduct
Tony Cignarale has been named deputy commissioner of consumer services and market conduct for the California Department of Insurance. Since August 1, 2007, Cignarale has been the acting deputy commissioner in that position, replacing Woody Girion, who was recently named deputy commissioner of rate regulation.
Cignarale has served as chief of the Consumer Services Division of the DOI since 2001. He directed the statewide activities of the Consumer Services Division, which includes responding and investigating consumer complaints and inquires relating to many lines of insurance. Cignarale has served the department for 15 years in several capacities, including associate and supervising compliance officer. In 2004, he was the recipient of the Insurance Commissioner’s Leadership and Teamwork Award.
