Wash. Commissioner To Chair Market Analysis Working Group
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced that Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler will chair the Market Analysis Working Group (MAWG) to emphasize the importance of collaboration between states and raise the profile of the group.
MAWG, consisting of 16 appointed individuals, provides policy direction and assists in coordinating multi-state collaborative actions, facilitates interstate communication, and recommends appropriate corrective actions and common solutions to multi-state problems by promoting the use of more cost-effective continuum responses, according to NAIC.
In 2007, MAWG is tasked with developing the following:
*recommendations on encouraging states to identify duplicative examinations;
*a process on how states can more effectively lead collaborative examinations; and
*a process to perform post mortems on market regulation issues to improve processes and analysis.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is a voluntary organization of the chief insurance regulatory officials of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the five U.S. territories.
