2006 Deadliest Year for Boaters, Watercraft Users in Arizona
Last year was the deadliest year for Arizona’s boaters and watercraft users, Arizona Game and Fish Department officials said.
In 2006, 14 people were killed, 153 were injured, and there were 255 accidents in Arizona waters, according to department records.
In 2005, five people were killed and there were 266 accidents.
Game and Fish data shows that 78 percent of boaters and watercraft users involved in 2006 accidents had not been formally educated about boating safety.
