Calif. State Fund Raises More than $100,000 for United Way

California State Compensation Insurance Fund employees have raised more than $102,000 in donations for United Way in its annual Bay Area California State Employees Charitable Campaign Drive.

Donations collected will help United Way fund various programs such as providing meals to the elderly or shelter for homeless people. In the past five years, State Fund has raised $470,000 for United Way.

“State Fund was the highest agency donor in the Bay Area,” said United Way Development Officer Melissa Andrews. “In fact, State Fund raised the highest amount out of the 75 (State) Bay Area agencies that participated in the drive.”

The campaign included State Fund’s Home Office, San Francisco and Oakland District Offices and offices in San Leandro, Fairfield and Walnut Creek. This year’s campaign chair was Business Services’ Assistant Manager Carlos Cabrera, who had the help of 45 State Fund campaign coordinators. Raffles, district fundraisers and video presentations detailed the program to employees. Also, a number of nonprofit organizations were invited to the home office to showcase their organization’s work and goals.
