American Agents Alliance to Host Calif. Sen. Cedillo at July 7th Meeting

June 23, 2004

The American Agents Alliance will welcome Senator Gil Cedillo (D-Los Angeles) to its July 7th meeting, to be held at 7:00pm at the Best Western Golden Sails Hotel in Long Beach. The meeting, one of several the Alliance hosts each month, will feature a discussion
about allowing undocumented immigrants access to California driver’s licenses. Senator Cedillo is the author of SB 1160, which would modify the current requirement that driver’s license applicants
have a social security number, allowing the use of a Federal Taxpayer ID number.

“We are happy that Senator Cedillo has agreed to discuss this very contentious issue with frontline insurance producers, especially those who provide access to insurance coverage in minority and inner-city communities, said Alliance Vice President and meeting co-chair Maria Palmer. “This has been one of the most discussed issues of the last few years, and many Alliance members and others on both sides of the debate are interested in talking with Senator Cedillo to clear the air on the issue. We are looking forward to meeting with him and getting a better handle on SB 1160.”

The July 7th meeting will be sponsored by Infinity Insurance, and all Alliance members will receive a complimentary dinner. Company representatives and non-Alliance members are welcome to attend for a $25 charge. Dinner will be served at 7:00pm, with the program beginning at 7:30pm. Reservations are required. Senator Cedillo’s participation is contingent on passage of the state budget.
