Update: Larry Jones Uninvolved in Scam to Defraud Wasatch Crest Insurance
On April 13, Insurance Journal Online published an article, Five Arrest Warrants Issued in Fraud Scam. IJ, citing the Utah Insurance Fraud Division, reported that an arrest warrant remained outstanding for Lawrence Edward Jones, a Valrico, Fla. resident and former vice president of MRIK Group Inc.
IJ has since received a copy of a motion to dismiss that exonerates Jones. All charges against Jones were dismissed with prejudice by the order signed by the Third Judicial District Court of Salt Lake County on May 10.
A warrant for Jones’ arrest was never initiated by the Utah Insurance Department due to evidence discovered in the investigation. It was determined that Jones’ name and signature had been executed on loan documents involving Wasatch Crest without his knowledge. A hand writing sample and polygraph test indicated that Jones was not a participant in the scam to defraud Wasatch Crest Insurance Co.
