Acordia Names Kevin Eggleston to Lead Hospitality Unit in California

March 8, 2004

Acordia of California Insurance Services Inc. has hired Kevin Eggleston, Senior Vice President, to lead “Acordia Hospitality,” a business unit dedicated to the insurance and risk management needs of the lodging and dining industry, specializing in property & casualty, directors’ & officers’, professional liability (management company errors & omissions), employment practices, employee benefits, and workers’ compensation.

The unit also provides industry specific insurance products, loss control engineering, safety training and claims management services.

“Insurance is typically the Hotelier’s or Restaurateur’s largest non-capital expenditure after payroll. Therefore, obtaining comprehensive insurance coverage as cost effectively as possible is often critical to bottom line profit,” said Eggleston. “The specialists in the Acordia Hospitality unit work daily with the unique exposures of the lodging and dining industry and are very familiar with the unique risk management requirements of owner operators, franchisees, franchisers, third party management firms and lenders. This industry specific emphasis not only creates a high degree of expertise, it generates significant buying power that typically translate into premium savings for Acordia clients.”

In his new role, Eggleston heads a large hospitality industry service team that provides marketing expertise, program development, loss control, claims and account management services for Acordia’s hospitality industry clients.

Eggleston began his insurance career in Chicago where he was a founding member of Aon’s Hospitality Focus Group. Prior to accepting his position with Acordia, Eggleston was the National Hospitality Practice Leader for Seabury & Smith, which is the program division of Marsh & McLennan. Eggleston has developed risk management and insurance placement alternatives for full-scale resorts, full and limited service hotels, vacation interval/timeshare operations and other recreational and entertainment venues for the past twelve years. Eggleston has also been instrumental in the development of hospitality franchisee insurance programs for several large national chains. His industry expertise includes “hands on” knowledge of alternative funding mechanisms and captive solutions.

Before his successful insurance career, Eggleston held senior management positions in Boston, Charlotte, San Francisco, and Denver with several full service and luxury hotels.
