Fisher Chosen to Lead NAMIC in 2003
The final general session of the 107th convention of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Cos. (NAMIC) featured an eventful business meeting that saw a new slate of officers elected during the week in San Diego. NAMIC’s 2002-2003 officers and directors were elected during the business session.
John Fisher, president of Auto Owners Insurance Group, Lansing, Mich., is the new Chairman of the Board. Chairman-Elect is F. Timothy Hegarty, Jr., president/CEO of Norfolk & Dedham Group, Dedham, Mass., while Wayne White, president of Home Mutual Fire Insurance Co., Conway, Ark., is vice chairman. John Hill, chief financial officer of Magna Carta Cos., New York, assumes the post of secretary/treasurer of the association.
Three new board members were also elected. Richard Raun, secretary/treasurer, of Woodland Mutual Insurance Co., Carlton, Minn.; Barbara Baurer, is executive vice president/COO of Country Insurance and Financial Services, Bloomington, Ill.; and L. Keith Birkhead, is chairman, president and CEO of Farmers Alliance Cos., McPherson, Kan.
Larry Forrester, who has been with NAMIC for more than 30 years and
has led the association as president since 1988, announced that he would retire from his duties by Sept. 2004. Hegarty will chair the search committee composed of individuals representing a cross section of NAMIC’s North American membership.
