CDI Investigators Make Fraud Arrest
California Department of Insurance (CDI) Criminal Investigators arrested a San Bernardino man on July 26 and charged him with two felony counts of insurance fraud.
Tom Davido, 56, was booked into Riverside County Jail and bail was set at $5,000. If convicted, Davido may face up to five years in state prison and/or fines up to $50,000.
Investigators allege that Davido filed a claim through his automobile insurer for a Jan. 5, interior vehicle fire and theft of personal belongings and vehicle parts, which included tires and wheels.
CDI’s investigation noted that the receipt used to substantiate the purchase of the tires was allegedly forged. In a later questioning under oath, Davido admitted the receipt for the tires was fabricated and the tires and wheels were not actually stolen as claimed.
