Strate Insurance in Tennessee Merges With Main Street Insurance Group
Strate Insurance Group is merging with Main Street Insurance Group, a 127-year-old agency with locales in North Carolina.
Strate officers said in a news release that the merged firm will operate as Strate Insurance Group, a Main Street Insurance Group Partner. All team members will remain with the new operation, and existing customers will continue working with Strate’s office in Morristown, Tennessee.
Independent insurance agency Strate was founded in 1978 by Jack and Agnes Strate and Tom Strate. Main Street has roots dating to 1898 and has offices in Charlotte and three other North Carolina cities, as well as in Georgia. Main Street offers personal and business insurance and employee benefits.
“I had the good fortune to start Strate Insurance Group alongside my parents, and eight years ago welcomed my daughter, Katherine Strate Smith, to the business,” Tom Strate said in a statement. “It is a rare accomplishment to perpetuate a family-owned business into the third generation.”
Katherine Strate Smith will be a partner and owner in Main Street, while Tom Strate will serve in an advisory role.
The merger was effective Jan. 1. Terms of the deal were not released.
