West Virginia’s Ludewig Retires as Agency Joins with Leavitt Group

Longtime West Virginia insurance agent Charles Ludewig has decided to retire, paving the way for his agency to join the Leavitt Group, one of the largest privately held brokerages in the country.

“I’m looking forward to this next chapter and plan to enjoy more time golfing and fishing and spending time with my family and grandchildren,” Ludewig said in a news release.

The agency’s New Martinsville office will remain open and will become part of Fahey-Leavitt insurance, which also has offices in Wheeling and Wellsburg. Kim Howell will continue working with clients at the New Martinsville site, the companies said.

Ludewig said Mike Fahey had been a mentor to him early in his career with Nationwide Insurance, and he feels that clients will be well served by the merger.

Leavitt Group has a network of more than 90 agencies in 27 states, offering commercial and personal lines coverage and employee benefits.
