Hatchell Named Senior Deputy Over Three Divisions at NC DOI
The North Carolina insurance commissioner has named veteran department employee Angela Hatchell as senior deputy commissioner for consumer services and agent services.

Hatchell, who started at the Department of Insurance in 1999 as a complaint analyst and most recently was deputy commissioner of the agent services division, will also oversee the regional director division, Commissioner Mike Causey said in a news release.
The consumer services section responds to consumers’ insurance questions and complaints. The agent services division helps ensure that agency employees have the knowledge and ethics to act in a fiduciary capacity for insureds, the department noted. The department has 10 regions and regional directors, and Hatchell will now oversee those.
Hatchell began her insurance career as a personal lines underwriter for North Carolina Farm Bureau in the late 1980s. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from North Carolina State University.
