Tornadoes Cause Limited Damage in Alabama, Mississippi

The same severe weather front that destroyed property in Texas and Louisiana also spawned at least six tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama, but damage appeared to limited.

In Baldwin County, in south Alabama, emergency officials and residents reported a tornado that churned from Summerdale through Robertsdale Tuesday night, damaging several buildings. In Lauderdale County, the Whitehead Baptist Church suffered roof damage, and other buildings lost walls and roofs, local news sites reported.

In Kemper County, Mississippi, a home was shifted off its foundation and a mobile home was thrown about 100 yards and smashed. Two injuries were reported in Holmes and Copiah counties, near the central part of the state. Altogether, 12 Mississippi counties reported damage to homes, according to news reports.
