MedMal Direct Names Hammett CEO

MedMal Direct Insurance Co., a direct-to-physician medical professional liability insurer based in Jacksonville, Florida, has named Marc Hammett president and CEO.

Hammett, who has recently served as chief financial officer of the company and president of sister company Physicians Trust Inc., takes over from Melodee Dixon, who plans to spend more time with family, according to a news release.

MedMal Direct said Hammett steps up at a time of significant growth for the insurer. It now operates in nine states and has seen a 14% increase in annual revenue. The company began in 2010 and has a financial stability rating of “A, exceptional” from the Demotech rating firm.
