Two Carolina Women Charged in Separate Insurance Fraud Cases

Two women have been charged with insurance fraud, one in connection with expired car insurance and one for providing false cancer treatment invoices, the North Carolina Department of Insurance announced.

Clarlese Hobdy, 24, of Greensboro, was charged last week after she was involved in an automobile accident in August. She tried to reinstate her Progressive policy the same day of the accident, then tried to collect payments, even though her policy had lapsed, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey said in a bulletin.

In Knightdale, North Carolina, Latasha Vaughn, 39, was arrested after department investigators alleged that she had forged documents and falsified information on medical bills, accident forms and claim forms, in order to obtain benefits from AFLAC supplement insurance.
