Risk Strategies Names Meder to Claims Advocacy Role

Risk Strategies, a national insurance brokerage and risk management firm, announced that John Meder, of Raleigh, North Carolina, will be the new head of risk consulting and claims advocacy.

Meder has more than 30 years of experience in risk management and was recently executive vice president and head of risk advisory at USI Insurance Services, according to a news release. Before that, he was a managing director at Wells Fargo Insurance Services and a senior vice president at Marsh.

He will be responsible for strengthening and shaping Risk Strategies’ technical claims and risk control resources and staying abreast of ever-changing emerging risks.

Willis Towers Leans on Caldwell

Willis Towers Watson, the global advisory and broking firm, named John Caldwell as risk and broking leader and head of growth strategy for the Carolinas region.

Caldwell, who lives in Charlotte, replaces Eric Hein, who retired this year, the company said in a news release. Caldwell was previously sales leader for Aon’s New York market, and worked at Gallagher as national sales leader.

Rushmore Underwriting Tags Chase as VP

Rushmore Underwriting Managers, based in Boca Raton, Florida, has hired Joe Chase as vice president for the Southeast region. He is based in the Tampa area.

Chase previously worked for XS Brokers as a commercial underwriter. He specializes in hard-to-place casualty business, including construction and manufacturing risks, the company said. Rushmore is an independent managing general agent and insurance wholesaler.
