372 DUI Arrests, 13 Killed in Traffic Crashes in Georgia Over Holiday Weekend
Georgia’s public safety department said Monday that 10 fatal traffic crashes over the New Year’s holiday weekend resulted in 13 deaths.
The crashes happened between Thursday, Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. and midnight Sunday, Jan. 3, according to a department news release.
Eleven of the deaths happened in accidents investigated by state troopers. Two were investigated by local authorities.
The state said 372 people were arrested for driving under the influence during the long weekend. The department news release said 7,976 citations and 9,237 warnings were issued.
