Authorities Catch Arsonist Setting Fire to Florida Churches
Authorities say a man who’s responsible for starting fires at several Florida churches has been arrested.
A Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office news release says 33-year-old Brody Allen Seiger was arrested on two counts of first-degree arson Tuesday.
According to detectives, Seiger broke a window at the Universal Harmony Church in Seminole on Feb. 3. Authorities say he lit a doormat on fire and pushed it through the broken window of the church.
Authorities say he broke a window at the Seminole United Methodist Church, poured gasoline through the window and ignited the gasoline.
The churches were unoccupied at the time, and the fire caused minor damage.
Detectives say Seiger admitted to setting the church fires and claimed he did it “for God.”
It’s unclear if Seiger has a lawyer.
