Uber Reaches Deal to Re-Enter Alabama City
An agreement that would bring Uber back to Tuscaloosa has been reached, although the city council still must give final approval next week.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that most city councilors support the ride-for-hire amendment that will allow Uber to begin operations again. However, they must still approve the matter next week.
If council approves the agreement next week, Uber representatives say they can be operating in Tuscaloosa 30 days later.
Uber first began operating in Tuscaloosa in fall 2014, but left within weeks after city officials demanded it comply with a series of safety regulations.
