South Carolina City Had Wettest Year on Record in 2015

December 22, 2015

It’s been a good year for ducks in Charleston as the National Weather Service reports that 2015 has been the wettest year on record.

The Weather Service says that the record was set about 1:30 a.m. on Friday when the total for the year at the Charleston International Airport reached 73.03 inches of rain.

That broke a record set back in 1964.

The rainfall totals were helped along by October’s heavy rains which dumped upward to 2 feet of rain in areas around the state and caused widespread flooding.

Rainfall records for the Charleston International Airport date back to 1938.
