North Carolina Man Accused of Auto Insurance Fraud
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin announced the arrest of Peter Dane Koke of Wilmington; he is charged with one count each of insurance fraud, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and providing false information on an insurance application.
North Carolina Department of Insurance criminal investigators accuse Koke of providing false information to National General Insurance Company on Aug. 13, 2015, when claiming his vehicle was stolen. Koke is accused of falsely claiming he repaired damage to his vehicle from an accident on July 3, 2015, in an attempt to receive a higher payment. Investigators allege Koke made a fraudulent statement claiming he did not have felony convictions within the past 10 years on an insurance application on Aug. 7, 2015.
Koke was arrested in New Hanover County on Oct. 19 and placed under a $50,000 bond.
NCDOI employs 20 sworn state law enforcement officers dedicated to investigating and prosecuting claims of insurance and bail bonding fraud.
