North Carolina Congressman’s Tree Falls on Postal Service Vehicle, Kills Worker
A postal worker is dead after her passing vehicle was crushed by a falling tree owned by a North Carolina congressman.
Multiple media organizations reported the 43-year-old female mail carrier died June 20 when the large tree fell on her U.S. Postal Service vehicle. Lincoln County sheriff’s deputies identified her as Lisa Rudisill Wilkerson of Sherrill’s Ford, N.C.
The tree was at the home of U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry in the town of Denver. McHenry press secretary Jeff Butler said the North Carolina Republican was visiting out-of-state relatives when the incident occurred.
The postal worker was delivering mail when a thunderstorm moved through the area. Power was knocked out temporarily to thousands of electricity customers.
