3 More Test Positive for E. Coli from South Carolina Daycare Outbreak
Health officials say testing has found three more cases of E. coli from an outbreak at a Greenwood day care center that has now sickened 11 and killed a 2-year-old boy.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control says the three newest cases all involved people who have recovered from the vomiting and diarrhea caused by the bacteria or never showed symptoms.
DHEC says no one from The Learning Vine day care has become ill since June 1 and they hope the outbreak is winding down.
DHEC ordered the center closed until it can assure the facility is cleaned to federal standards and corrects a dozen violation found in an inspection.
The health agency says 186 people associated with the day care have tested negative for E. coli.
