Fire at Atlanta Apartment Building Destroys at Least 24 Units
Fire officials say more than 20 apartments were damaged when a large fire tore through an apartment complex in northeast Atlanta.
DeKalb County Fire Chief Norman Augustin told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution roughly 24 units at the Ashford Druid Hills apartment complex were destroyed Friday evening.
Fire officials told WSB-TV the top floor of the building was fully engulfed when trucks arrived and the department had to fight the blaze from outside the building.
Footage from local television stations showed the remains of several charred units and plumes of black smoke that could be seen from nearby interstates.
It’s unclear whether anyone was injured and details on the cause of the fire weren’t immediately available.
