Mississippi Insurance Agency Owner Charged with Fraud
A Philadelphia, Miss., man has been charged with multiple counts of insurance fraud.
Attorney General Jim Hood said in a news release that 46-year-old Phillip Willis was indicted in Neshoba County on three counts of false pretense. Willis has been freed on bond.
Hood said Willis is accused of defrauding four victims in three separate cases of more than $45,000 while doing business as owner/agent of Capital Risk Insurance Co. in Philadelphia.
He said Willis allegedly took payments from the victims to cover insurance premiums but never paid the premiums, which resulted in the victims’ coverage being cancelled or their having to repay their premium in order to keep from being cancelled.
