Florida Compounding Pharmacy’s Drug Recall Involves 91 Batches
A spokeswoman for a central Florida compounding pharmacy says 91 batches were involved in a voluntary recall of its sterile non-expired drug products over concerns they’re not sterile and may contain bacteria.
Spokeswoman Roxie Mooney said Monday there have been no reports of injury or illness associated with the products produced by Balanced Solutions Compounding Pharmacy, which is based in Lake Mary, Fla.
Mooney says Balanced Solutions has suspended all sterile compounding until the pharmacy is able to finish a top-to-bottom review of procedures.
The Food and Drug Administration is encouraging health care facilities who have received sterile products from Balanced Solutions to immediately check their medical supplies, quarantine the products, and follow the company’s recall instructions.
An FDA inspection of the company revealed poor practices and conditions.
