Judge Nixes Insurer Lawsuit After Juror Conducts Online Research
A federal judge in Louisville has dismissed an entire jury pool in a civil case because one of the jurors did online research about the defendant.
U.S. Magistrate Judge James Moyer excused the panel in a case brought by Cincinnati Insurance Co. against stainless steel tube maker Omega Flex.
Moyer concluded in a ruling that he didn’t know how many jurors knew about the outside information found online and excused all the jurors as a precaution.
Cincinnati Insurance sued Omega Flex to recoup $840,000 paid out in a claim stemming from a house fire.
