Alabama Attorney General Urges Judge to Set BP Trial Date
Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange has urged a Louisiana federal judge to set a trial date to hear claims of lost revenue by Alabama and Louisiana because of the massive BP oil spill.
Strange said Friday that setting a trial date would put pressure on BP and other companies responsible for the spill. Strange has said that keeping pressure on BP would encourage the oil company to begin serious discussions toward a settlement.
Strange said that Alabama is ready to go to trial. He made the comments on the second anniversary of the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig that led to the spill.
Strange is co-coordinating counsel for the Gulf states in the legal case against BP. Strange said his goal is to hold BP and others accountable.
