Alabama Tornado Recovery Report Delayed
The severe weather prompted Alabama Governor Robert Bentley to cancel a meeting this week where he was supposed to receive a study from a group of community and corporate leaders that studied Alabama’s response to the killer tornadoes in April.
The meeting had been set for Monday morning in Montgomery, but Bentley announced its cancellation after severe storms caused deaths early Monday in Jefferson County.
A spokeswoman for the governor said the meeting with the Tornado Recovery Action Council will be rescheduled.
Officials saidthe report will contain 20 recommendations addressing storm shelters, warning systems, community awareness, coordination between state agencies and economic recovery. The group has been working on its report since August.
