Florida, Georgia Agree on Catastrophe Cooperation Plan

November 2, 2011

Florida and Georgia have renewed their partnership to provide services in the event a catastrophe compromises their ability to respond to a disaster.

First drafted in 2009, the updated plan is designed to ensure a continuity of operations so that either department will not experience a significant disruption in providing critical services to individuals and business after a major catastrophe.

The plan calls for the either state to contact the other when a disaster occurs and it must move its operations to that state. The host state will provide logistical support, including a limited number of computer, internet, and other communication devices. The host state will also provide space for 20 employees for up to 45 days.
