Insurers Cover Mississippi County for Misuse of Funds
A second bond company has reached a settlement in the state auditor’s investigation of former Alcorn County Supervisor Danny Crotts.
RLI Insurance Co. has agreed to pay $31,809. The board of supervisors agreed to accept the payment.
Travelers Insurance Co. recently agreed to pay $95,403.
In February, the state auditor’s office said an alleged misuse of funds occurred from 2002 through 2007.
The allegations included Crotts billing the county more than $15,000 for expenses at a building that had a bar and dance floor; two instances of working on private property; purchasing auto parts for personal vehicles; and disposing of county property rather than transferring it to the supervisor-elect.
Crotts, who defeated in 2007, is running again this year.
