Tennessee Suspends Roofer Who Promised Insurance Reimbursement
The Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors has suspended the home improvement license of American Shingle LLC, a company whose sales strategy officials say has involved representatives driving through neighborhoods and promising homeowners insurance-reimbursed roof repairs or replacements.
The company has been ordered to cease and desist from home contract work until the matter can be addressed in a formal hearing before the board.
“It was clear to the Contractors Board that American Shingle failed to perform agreed-upon, contracted work for multiple consumers, and failed to provide a refund to them,” said Commerce and Insurance Commissioner Leslie A. Newman.
According to state officials, the company has filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
