FBI Raids Tennessee Payroll, Insurance Firm Sommet Group

July 8, 2010

Federal agents have raided the office of a Williamson County company with a connection to the Nashville Predators.

The Tennessean reports that the FBI, working with the U.S. Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service, executed a search warrant at the Sommet Group on Tuesday morning.

Keith Moses, assistant special agent in charge for the FBI, said he couldn’t describe the investigation because the case was under seal.

The Sommet Group, a company that contracts with other businesses to handle payroll, insurance and human resource functions, had sole naming rights to what is now Bridgestone Arena from 2006 until 2009.

In November 2009, the Predators sued the Sommet Group for non-payment on the naming arrangement.

The company is also in trouble with the state, which has accused it of not paying unemployment taxes.
