North Carolina Agent Charged with Embezzling Insurance Premiums
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin reported the arrest of a licensed insurance agent from Fremont who has been charged with embezzling $7,000 in insurance premiums.
Insurance department investigators allege that Wendy C. McGuire, from June to December 2008, kept the premiums rather than remitting them to her employer, Chris Challender, owner of the Challender Insurance Agency.
According to Goodwin, McGuire voluntarily surrendered her insurance license in July. She was processed at the Pitt County Sheriff’s office and placed under a $7,500 secured bond.
