Georgia Officials Cite Eating While Driving In Fatal Collision

Officials in Forsyth County, Georgia say a 48-year-old woman who was killed in a highway collision may have lost control of he car because she was eating.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Shelton says Rhonda D. McGinnis of Cumming was injured when her car veered across the center line on Georgia Highway 9 and collided with another vehicle. She was taken to North Fulton Hospital, where she died.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Shelton says the woman, who was alone in her car, had been eating a sandwich and french fries while driving. He says she was not wearing a seat belt.

Shelton says the occupants of the other vehicle were wearing seat belts and were not seriously injured in the nighttime accident.
