Family of Slain Tennessee Woman Settles with Apartment Complex
The family of a slain Tennessee college student has settled a lawsuit against the Knoxville apartment complex where she was fatally stabbed in 2004.
Michael and Joan Berry of Lawrenceville, Ga., had sued Brendon Park Apartments, Brendon Park Associates and First Management Services Inc. of Nashville for $3.1 million. They claimed the apartment complex failed to provide adequate security for their 21-year-old daughter, Johnia Berry.
But The Knoxville News Sentinel reports the case, set for trial in February, has now been dropped.
Berry attorney Mike Nassios says terms of the settlement will not be released.
A murder suspect was arrested in 2008 but hanged himself before he could be tried.
