North Carolina Agent Arrested on Embezzlement Charges
North Carolina Department of Insurance investigators said they arrested Teeketa Graham Davis of Sophia, N.C. on charges of embezzling more than $68,000.
Department investigators allege that Davis, a licensed insurance agent with Wilson Insurance Associates, pocketed $68,465.09 in customer insurance premiums over nearly a two-year period beginning July 2006.
According to officials, the agency’s owner, Darrell Wilson, tipped off the Department’s Agent Services Division, which conducted a weeklong audit that officials said confirmed his suspicions. The case was then turned over the case to the insurance department’s investigators to begin a criminal case against Davis. She has surrendered her agent license, according to department officials.
Davis was charged with one count of embezzlement by an insurance agent and processed at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office under a $5,000 unsecured bond.
