4 Arrested on Charges of Faking Mississippi Car Accident
The Mississippi attorney general’s office says four people have been arrested on charges they staged a car accident in Yazoo County to collect insurance money.
Attorney General Jim Hood says the four have been charged with conspiracy to commit insurance fraud. He says law enforcement, rescue personnel and an ambulance responded to the scene of the Aug. 12 accident, where nine people claimed to be injured.
The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people at the scene and charged them with making a false report and tampering with evidence. The case was then referred to the Insurance Integrity Enforcement Bureau of the attorney general’s office.
Two of those arrested this week were from Pickens, while the others were from Yazoo City and Lexington.
